Maine Lobsters

Maine’s Best Lobster!

What makes Blue Crab Trading's lobsters the freshest and tastiest on the market?  Our crew hand-picks wild lobsters with an eye on size and a focus on weight.  Freshly caught and quickly steamed lobsters offer a sweet, oceanic flavor with a plump, tender meat.  Maine prides itself on the best lobsters in the world and J. Lionel picks the best of the best for your special event.  We size 4 main categories for your selection:  1-1.15-pound, 1.18-1.25 pound (NY chicks), 2-2.5 pound and 4-4.5 pound.  The following states need to choose the NY chick or larger based on shipping regulations: (RI, CT, NJ, NY). Your sustainably sourced lobsters ship to your kitchen in a specialty cooler that keeps the meat at an exact temperature for a fresh delivery.  Simply schedule a delivery date that fits your social calendar!

What should I do with these freshly steamed lobsters?

First, send out the invites.  Brag that you just purchased the freshest Maine Lobsters caught off the rocky Maine coastline.  Then, unpack the cooler and place the steamed lobsters in the fridge for your event.  Schedule your delivery within two days of your event so you enjoy the freshest catch.  Preparation is easy since we did all the work for you!  Simply brush butter on the lobster’s belly so it keeps moist during the reheating.  Wrap in foil and place on a sheet, belly-up in the oven at 350 degrees F for about 8 minutes.  Make sure you have your succulent lobsters belly-up.  This keeps the lobster extra moist and the meat tender and plump.  Locate your favorite serving tray and give these lobsters the respect they deserve, “The Best Lobsters caught in Maine!”  Our chef suggests that about 4 oz. of lobster meat comfortably fits as a serving size.

Light the Burners!  You’re the chef tonight!

Lobster Bisque made easy.  A creamy, decadent soup never tasted so good!  Gather your ingredients:  1 ½ lb. lobster meat from J. Lionel, 3 tbs. unsalted butter, ¼ cup chopped portabella mushroom, 2 tbs. chopped yellow onion, 2 tbs. chopped celery, 16 ounces chicken broth, 1 ½ cup whole milk, ½ cup Pinot Grigio, sea salt and cayenne pepper.

Melt the butter in a saucepan at medium-high and add all the vegetables with modest pinches of salt and cayenne pepper based on your likings.  Bring the mix to a boil and then turn the heat back to low and let the soup simmer for 10 minutes.  Measure ¾ pound of the lobster and combine the soup and pour into a blender.  Churn until smooth.  Yes, it seems odd to blend this beautiful lobster meat; but don’t forget, it’s soup.  Amazing soup at that!  Pour the soup back into the saucepan and add the milk, ¾ pound lobster and Pinot Grigio.  Stir occasionally as you allow the lobster bisque to simmer and cook to a creamy, decadent and rich appetizer, side or even main dish.  Eat fresh!

* Please note all lobster weights listed on description are the live weights prior to steaming. This is the industry standard and is how we purchase the lobsters. Once a lobster is cooked it will lose water weight. No refunds will be given for the difference in weight.
